Our story times develop early literacy skills and promote a love of reading in a warm, welcoming environment.

Pre-School Story Time (3-5 years) - Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. Early literacy skills, school readiness skills, listening, and following directions are developed during this time. Our story time is designed to introduce children to books and libraries in a positive and enjoyable way. The program includes a variety of stories, finger plays, action rhymes, and crafts. Pre-School Story Time is also a time when children can learn socialization skills by interacting with children their own age.

Baby and Me (0–18 months) - Thursdays at 9:30 a.m Delight and stimulate your baby's senses with books and music. Exposure to words, rhymes, music, and movement during the first 18 months of life assists in developing language and motor skills. Baby and Me is also a time when children can learn socialization skills by interacting with children their own age.

Toddler Time (18-36 months) - Thursdays at 10 a.m. Our enthusiastic and specially trained staff presents stories, songs, and movement activities to match the ages and attention spans of the participants. Children in this age range react differently; they will be at all levels of development. Part of the interactive experience at story time is socialization with others. The goal of our program is to set the stage for the love of reading and lifelong learning.

Baxter Memorial Literacy Kits

Current research on early literacy and brain development indicates that it is never too early to prepare children for success as readers. Parents of newborns, toddlers and preschoolers have the critical role as their children's first teacher.

These literacy kits will provide hands-on activities for parent and child to work and play together on early reading skills and will be available to circulate for three week periods. For more information please call 222-1190
